New US tariffs are coming into effect, so this blog explains a little more about why we've paused USA orders and our next steps.

Important Update: Temporary Pause on USA Pre-Orders
We wanted to share an important update about our services to the United States.
Due to recent changes in trade policy announced by President Donald Trump on July 30th, significant new tariffs are scheduled to come into effect on August 29th, 2025. These changes will directly impact the cost and logistics of shipping our products to US customers.
As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to pause all orders from US customers starting immediately.
Why We're Pausing USA Orders
Up until now, orders under $800 could be shipped from the UK to the USA without incurring tariffs. This allowed us, as a small business based in Cornwall, UK, to send your packages directly and affordably.
Under the new rules, however, all shipments regardless of value are subject to a 10% tariff from the UK into the USA.
As this new change is so recent, there’s still a lot of uncertainty as to how it will work. Even our courier partners and customs officials are unable to confirm how the new tariffs will be applied in practice.
Because of this, we’ve decided to pause USA orders to avoid:

Unexpected price increases for you

Shipping delays or customs complications

Compromising our customer service!
What About Existing Pre-Orders?
We know many of you placed pre-orders before this news broke and we’re working hard to honour them. Here’s what we’re currently working on:

Receiving our 2026 stock ASAP.
Our suppliers are doing their best to deliver journal stock early, so we can ship before the August 29th deadline - we are awaiting the outcome of this. -
We’re considering reimbursing affected customers.
If we can’t ship before the tariff kicks in, we may need to cancel and refund some pre-orders. We will not do this until we have more clarity. -
We’re closely monitoring the situation.
If there’s any chance of a delay or change of start date for the new tariffs, we’ll use that window to fulfil pre-orders as planned. (Fingers crossed for this!).
What Can You Do Right Now?
We’d truly appreciate your patience while we work through this. If you’ve already placed a pre-order, please rest assured:
✅ We will NOT ship your order until we know the exact tariff costs and share them transparently with you.
✅ If we need to issue a refund or if we’re able to ship early, you’ll hear from us directly.
✅ If you’re happy to pay any applicable tariff to receive your item, we’ll aim to provide that option - but not until we know how the logistics will work.
As a small team, we may not be able to reply to every individual message right away but we will keep you updated through this blog, via email and on our social media channels.
Can I Still Order Other Items to the USA?
No, not at the moment. We took the decision to pause orders to the USA until we know what is happening but as of 26th August, Royal Mail and other UK couriers have also completely stopped U.S shipments, meaning we couldn't post there even if we wanted to.
We do know that this is only temporary with everyone UK and USA side working hard to get things moving again. We believe its a matter of new software being put into place in order for tariffs to be paid at checkout, thus meaning they will automatically clear customs.
That's the theory but we will have to wait and see how it works in practise as we await further instructions from our shipping couriers.
