Our Leo new moon arrives this month packed with power and potential. Ruled by the sun, the sign of Leo encourages us to bask in the beams of our own promise. Our new moon, adorned by these golden rays, has some important messages to share. Let’s explore the magic of this potent moon together…
Leo’s energy is deeply lit from the fire within, asking to stay close to our courage and to lead from the heart. In true Leonine fashion, this new moon delivers a message to reconnect with our strength and explore new, authentic ways to shine. Just as our life-giving sun is the centre of the solar system, Leo asks us to cultivate a strong light ready to beam out and touch the lives of all those in our orbit.

Self and the collective
Yet, at this new moon, across the skies, Pluto, also known as Lord of the Underworld, is in Aquarius and is casting a long shadow. This opposition to the new moon activates the Leo / Aquarius axis and stirs the age-old tension between the self and the collective. For example, ideas around how we contribute to the collective as individuals and the questioning of outdated blueprints (both in our lives and structures around us) may bubble up. In the midst of this we can consider the transformation needed for us to align with our most authentic self.
The cosmic conversation heightens with Uranus in Gemini, and Neptune and Saturn in Aries all influencing the energy of this moon. It may feel like an overwhelming influx of information, scattered, potent, and hard to decipher. However, Mercury’s retrograde in Leo offers a gift: the chance to slow down, review, and reflect. The message? Hold the centre. Take time. Let your light rekindle slowly and steadily.
Ways to work with this new moon:
-
Re invigorate your self-confidence: Make a list of all the times you’ve been brave or bold. So often, we forget these moments in the hum of everyday life. Recall your own resilience and let it remind you of who you truly are.
-
Practise authentic generosity: How does giving feel in your body? Next time you offer something, perhaps your time, energy, or words, pause and notice what’s happening within. Allow generosity to become a wholehearted act.
-
Return to your heart centre: What gently guides you back to what matters most? Dedicate some quiet time to focus inwards. Listen to what the heart wants.
-
Invite joy back in: When was the last time you did something simply for the pleasure of it? If there’s a creative impulse, be it painting, dancing, writing, or whatever ignites some childlike joy, say yes to it. Play awakens possibility.
-
Set your intentions and connect with others: Consider setting your intentions in a circle or with some trusted friends, where you can shine your light and help others step into theirs.
A note on Mars and Venus…
Venus and Mars are also in dynamic conversation during this moon, both in signs ruled by Mercury. This may bring about a sense that something important is being reworked. It could feel complex or even tense at times, but the key is likely in the details. Stay present to join the dots.
